4 Serious Blunders of Article Marketing

Article marketing is an open secret to build traffic to your site or to create your online reputation as an authority in your field. Articles are used by thousands of online marketers and network marketers to target their prospects and convert them to customers. However, there are 4 blunders which if you make can have serious adverse impact on your business.
  • Ignorance of Target Audience: You will be able to shoot your arrows when you know what and where your target is. This is one of the fundamental principles of article marketing. Ignore this only at your own risk. You are not writing articles for the billions on internet users around the world but to only a niche of people who are looking for solutions that your business provides. You must find out everything about such people - what sites they visit, what forums they frequent and what kind of information they want. Then tune your articles accordingly.
  • Ignorance of Method: Articles are not a medium to advertise your business directly. You must not write articles like they are lists of product features or whitepapers promoting your business. This is known as spamming and must be avoided. People will soon realize that you have nothing of use to offer but are simply advertising and they will stop reading your articles. You must write in order to inform the readers of alternative solutions to their problems and subtly guide them into noticing your products. The more you do this; the better will be your credibility as an author.
  • Ignorance of the Power of Attraction: I would bet a thousand dollars on the fact that 50% of the attractiveness of an article lies in the heading and 50% in the actual article. If you are not able to write a title that stands out from the rest then you will never be able to get reads and clicks for your article. Put yourself in the shoes of the user and imagine that he has got a list of 20 relevant articles and your article is one of them. All he is seeing is the title on the search results page. If your title is attractive, then only he will click it, else he will move on to other articles.
  • Ignorance of Reviews: How often I tell article marketers to review their articles before submitting. It gives a bad impression on the author, which eventually rubs off on his products and business, when there are spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors in the article.
I always advise - Read your article completely and carefully before submitting it to the sites!
