Not long ago, a very good writer, much better than I with regards
to their fundamentals, asked me point blank about my writing and
ability to use that writing to make money, she asks; "I hope this
doesn't sound crass, I just wanted to know, did writing 30,000 articles
impact your wallet in a positive way? Obviously you have a love of all
things and writing is a great outlet, could you see measurable results
with different milestones? Thanks K."
Well, that is a very good question isn't it? Here is my response; I have not written for an income really, so I wouldn't be the one to give a positive or negative summation of online article writing as a venue to wealth creation. Still, if I was still in the Franchising Business and not retired, I can see how it could have easily increased sales 5-fold. If someone's goal is 'just to make money' well, I can assure you there are better ways to earn a living. I think it depends more on what you do or sell, and your target audience, and the competition in that sector along with one's ability to write well and hone in on that niche. That's my assessment, but I am uncertain I am the best to judge since it just hasn't been my focus.
Interestingly enough, the expert article writer has written some great articles on child water safety, to me this is a critical issue. In fact, I have thought on that topic the prior and even come up with a couple of rescue devices deployable from a small UAV, from a cruise ship or life guard station. I wrote about these inventions and innovative ideas years ago.
Luckily, someone read one of these articles and made such a device, it is now available to life guards across the country. Pretty cool, it all starts with a problem-solution, and a little publicity to get a new concept into the minds of the right people. How much is that worth? Priceless, especially if it saves a life. No, I didn't make any money on that one either, but, I think this makes my point for me. So, no didn't take offense my online article writer peer, or consider her question 'crass because indeed, it is a legitimate question.
Now then, I have met other online writers who've made money writing articles, and I think that is just great, good for them, it can be done, but I write for a different reason. If writing or contributing content online derives me money in the future, all the better, if not, I will continue, because, I see the value, I have lots of similar examples like the one above to know I am making a difference. Please consider all this and think on it.
